Chosen and precious
"As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious" 1peter 2:4
This past weekend we were in the great state of Kentucky visiting family. It was a restful weekend and we got to see a lot of family that we don't normally get to see. We got to go strawberry picking... Picking strawberry's, my daughters favorite fruit from birth, from the earth and shoving them generously into our mouths. If there was a greater joy to be had my daughter knew no such thing. This was the pinnacle of all good things. She probably ate thirty strawberries and was totally covered in their fresh juices. We caught the farm at the end of picking season so the people working there looked at us with sheepish faces saying you're welcome to pick what you can find... If you can find any. This didn't stop us and what we found, we chose and to my baby they were the most precious little strawberries she ever did see.
This morning back home and resting in the word this verse stood out to me. I needed it, I needed to be reminded that He chose me, and that to him I am precious. A living stone that rests on the cornerstone that is my god.
I can only hope that when she's older and she faces rejection or fears that she would know that a great God sees her as the adorable strawberry picker both chosen and precious in His sight and mine.
This is one of my favorite pictures ever of this one, belly out and ready to pick!
